Breakdown Voltage Tester TOR-80 (TOR-80 LSL)
The TOR-80 unit is designed to assess the dielectric strength of transformer oil and other dielectric fluids in accordance with IEC 60156, ASTM D877, and ASTM D1816 standards.
This device is fully automated, allowing for testing based on the established procedures within these standards, as well as accommodating user-defined procedures specified in the setup menu.
Operating Principle
At its core, the unit consists of a high voltage transformer and electronic modules. The unit functions by gradually increasing the voltage applied to the secondary winding of the high voltage transformer, starting from zero and progressing to the maximum voltage or until an electrical breakdown occurs in the dielectric fluid within the measuring cell positioned on the high voltage contacts of the transformer.
The gradual voltage increment in the secondary winding is achieved through the controlled application of sinusoidal voltage to the primary winding via the control inverter, which is one of the electronic modules.
The microcontroller regulates the voltage increase via the control inverter, and this control inverter is under the command of the unit control module.
Throughout operation, an alternating current (AC) voltage with a frequency of 50-60Hz is conveyed from the secondary winding terminals through the cell electrodes into the dielectric fluid within the measuring cell. The electric breakdown occurs between these electrodes within the space occupied by the dielectric fluid.
