Oil Tan Delta Tester TOR-3 (TOR-3 SL)
The TOR-3 unit is engineered to determine the dielectric loss tangent, specific resistivity, and permittivity of transformer oils and other dielectric fluids according to IEC 60247-2004-02 (VDE-0380-2:2005_01), ASTM D924-08, and ASTM D1169-02.
This fully automated device facilitates testing procedures as specified in these standards and allows for custom testing procedures outlined in the setup menu.
Operating Principle
The operational approach relies on measuring the disparities in signal amplitudes and phases when applying a sinusoidal test voltage with an effective value of up to 2 kV simultaneously to both the reference capacitor and the object of measurement, which is the measuring cell within the unit.
The difference in signal amplitudes derived from the reference capacitor and the internal electrode of the measuring cell is directly proportional to the dielectric constant of the liquid being analyzed. Meanwhile, the phase difference between the signals obtained from the reference capacitor and the internal electrode of the measuring cell serves as an indicator of the dielectric loss tangent value.
